I made 50 of these crocheted flowers for my wedding favors. I'm glueing magnets to the back so people can put them on their fridges. I hope everyone likes them.

I finished it! My first piece of crocheted clothing. It was pretty easy to make and sewing it together was not as hard as I thought it would be.

I made the body a couple inches longer. After I sewed it together and tried it on, I realized it was a little too much off the shoulder so I crocheted a few rounds to the top. Now I am very happy with it.

I recently bought Cool Crochet by Melissa Leapman, and I love it. There are several clothing patterns in that I would actually wear. I ordered yarn to make two of the patterns, Stacy and Darla. I got the yarn for Stacy last week, and I am almost done with the back. I hope I picked the right size and that it wil fit okay. The pattern is really easy to make and the yarn is nice to work with. I am using the yarn called for in the pattern which is Classic Elite Flash.

Here is the yarn. It's called Crocus and is a little bit more purple than the picture shows.

Here is my progress on the back. I added a couple of rows to make the bottom longer, but I'm not sure I added enough, so I might have to figure out some kind of edging to make it longer.

My 2 new projects.

This is a granny square blanket made with Homespun. I can't remember what its called, but it made a very pretty blanket. Not sure what I'm going to do with the blanket, but its the only thing I could think to make with the Homespun. It's folded up in the picture because I couldn't get a good picture of the whole thing. Not that it mattters, though, every knows what a granny square looks like.

For my birthday I ended up getting a ball of sock yarn. I fell in love with a 100% alpaca yarn, but talked myself out of buying it. It was soooooo soft though. I liked crocheting with the sock yarn much more than thread. But . . . I didn't make socks, I made an ipod case.

Anyway, here's the entry I tried to write earlier.

My birthday is on the 22nd, so I was trying to drop hints to Jimmy that I wanted to go to the yarn store. Not Michael's or Joann, but the real yarn store which is called The Woolie Ewe. Hints included sighing and saying that I wish I had some nice yarn to crochet this pattern with, etc.

But of course he didn't get the hints. We were talking about all the things we have to do this month when my birthday came up, and he said he had no idea what to get for me. So I just said I want to go to the Woolie Ewe to buy some nice yarn. I know that hints, subtle or not, do not work on him. And if I didn't tell him exactly what I want, who knows what he would have done. He is not a very good gift giver! I've gotten some, um, strange presents over the years like a pair of gargoyles(?), a children's book about a dog that he thought was cute, and I thought was not so cute, a dictionary (thought that would be good because I was an English Major) . . . the gargoyles still puzzle me.

The next couple weeks are rather busy for us. On Friday we are going to Six Flags for his company party. Sunday is the Tori Amos concert. I'm so excited about that. It will be the first time I've seen her playing solo without the band. The 22nd is my birthday, and the 23rd is a casino party at the president of his company's house.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jimmy asks me again what I want for my birthday . . .

New Camera

We finally got that new digital camera. This one is really awesome and it has a TON of features.

I bought my very first crochet pattern online. http://lavonne3-1.tripod.com/id10.html I bought the Shrug set in adult size from there. I'm halfway done with the shrug, but I don't really like the yarn I'm using, so I don't know if i will finish it with this yarn or just wait until I find some nicer yarn.

I was supposed to get a new digital camera for Christmas . . . but as you can see it is March now, so I guess that isn't going to happen.

After making that rug and the mixer cover, I wanted to make some quick and easy things. So I found some patterns for fridgies. I made a watermelon slice, flower, ladybug, and a cupcake. Very cute. I also practices tunisian crochet and made a potholder.

I'll make some more fridgies as soon as I get more colors of yarn.

Besides crocheting, I've been cleaning the house because the fiance's parents are coming to visit next week.

My secret project out of pink cotton yarn. It's a cozy for something rather large on my kitchen counter.

And what is it covering? My KitchenAid stand mixer that I got for Christmas. Love it!

Feeling Loopy

I've finally finished my Loopy Rug. It took FOREVER! Making chain 7 loops eats up a lot of yarn and takes a lot of time. I like the way the rug looks, but I don't know if I like the way it looks on our floor. I need to sew on some non-slip backing so when I put it on the floor it won't slide around.

My new project is a secret. At least until I finish it. But it does involve pink cotton yarn. I'm in love with this cotton yarn. I don't know, something about the way it works up really pleases me.

In not so good news, I've lost my little scissors. I generally try to keep all my stuff in the hook holder that I made, but I guess I forgot to put them back at some point. They probably fell between the couch cushion. Unfortunately, I can't move the couch to find them. I did get down on the floor and shine the flashlight under the couch. I didn't see the scissors, but I did see approximately 10 blue bottle caps that Kisa Cat has lost under there. She LOVES those bottle caps.

I need to charge the camera batteries so I can take pictures of my rug. I should be able to finish my pink cotton project in the next few days.

I bought my very first crochet book about a week after my grandma taught me. Now I'm actually making something from it. It's the Loopy Bathmat from Crochet Your Way. I'm going to use it by the front door, not in the bathroom though. So far I've done 5 rows of the loops, and it's looking cool.
I'm making it in 2 shades of brown and 1 of cream. I hope I have enough yarn to make it because I'm really trying to use of some of my yarn.

Of course I say I don't want to buy anymore yarn for now, but that's not really true. I'm planning on buying some cotton yarn for a certain project that I don't really want to talk about until I figure out how to make it.

I didn't get any crochet related presents for Christmas. I'm a little disappointed, but I did get other great presents.

This was the first Christmas we've had a tree. It has purple lights and white/silver ornaments. I love it.

Poncho

Damn, I'm supposed to make a poncho for Jimmy's sister for her birthday. I've known about it for at least a month now, but I haven't started yet.

I've been thinking about it a lot, though. I've looked at every damn poncho pattern on the internet twice, but I don't like any of the patterns! So I thought I would look through all my books and try to find a pattern stitch for the poncho. After researching on all the different ways to make a poncho (in the round, one large rectancle, two smaller rectangles) and testing out tons of stitch patterns, I still don't know how I'm going to make it.

And I just realized today that her birthday is October 6. Um, that's not much time!

Two Firsts

This is my first thread crochet project. God, thread crochet is a pain in the ass. My hand was cramping from trying to keep my tension tight. I guess it's pretty good for a beginner. Technically, I need a smaller hook for this size thread. I might make a few of these bookmarks for Christmas presents.

This is my first successful knitting project. I used some Bernat Frenzy for it. It's just garter stitch.

This zig-zag scarf is for my mom. This pattern was very very quick to make.

Frustration

I'm in some kind of crocheting slump. Every time I start a pattern I end up stopping and ripping it out because I'm either disatisfied with the way the pattern looks or with the way the yarn looks in the pattern. I think I want to make my grandma a shawl for Christmas, but I've looked at every shawl pattern on the internet and in my books and none of them are appealing to me. Sigh.

Maybe I should just use my cotton yarn to make her a potholder or a dishcloth . . .

The only thing I have been succesful making are some little granny squares. I think I'm going to edge them in black and put them end to end to make a scarf for someone.

I've been trying to update this blog for awhile, but I couldn't actually type in the text box! I don't think Camino likes Blogger.

Anyway, here are the long awaited pictures.

My first attempt at intarsia. I want to make my future sister-in-law a scarf with an airplane on it because she is going to be a pilot. But this is too wide to be a scarf.

I finally made some hats. The orange one is for the fiance. Orange is his favorite color. I hate orange . .

The color is off in this picture. The blue is really sage green.

Here's the baby blanket I made for Heather and Chris. They came over last week, and I gave it to them. They seemed to really like it.

I finished the baby blanket I'm making for my friends Heather and Chris. It's the first baby blanket I've made. The baby isn't due until October, so I got it done in plenty of time.

I will post pictures of the blanket as soon as I figure out what's wrong with the digital camera.

I ordered a bunch of yarn last night. Some of it is to make Christmas presents, and some of it is to make this scarf for myself that I am completely in love with from the Vogue Knitting Crocheted Scarves book.

Kaleidoscope Scarf

Sometime back in March I guess, I made my first ever trip to a yarn store - The Woolie Ewe.

I was so overwhelmed by all the beautiful yarns that I didn't know what to do. But I really wanted to buy something, so I bought two balls of this yarn from the Plymouth Italian Collection. It's called Siam. Go here and click on Siam to see what it looks like.
The yarn was on sale for 50% off, and it had such pretty colors and fluffy bits sticking out that I couldn't resist.

I wasn't sure if I had enough to make a scarf out of it, but I took a chance and paired it with one strand of Caron Simply Soft in black and a size N hook. It's made in single crochet with chain 1 spaces. Luckily, I did have enough to make the scarf with fringe. It ended up being 3" wide and 60" long with fringe. It's really thick also.

I don't know think anyone on my Christmas list would like this scarf, so I'm going to keep it!

My First Pattern

This is my first original pattern design I submitted i to link w/text
Crochet Me but I don't know if it will get accepted.

So here is the pattern for my ruffled scarf:

Materials Needed:
J hook (6.0 mm)
One 3 ounce skein of LionBrand Wool-Ease in Blush Heather (or your
choice of worsted weight yarn)

Finished Size:
Approximately 2 1/2 inches wide by 43 inches long

Instructions:
Ch 120.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and each chain across. Ch 2 and turn.

Row 2: Dc in each Sc across. Ch 2 and turn.

Row 3: Make 2 Dc in each Dc across. Ch 2 and turn.

Row 4: Make 3 Dc in each Dc across.
Finish off and weave in ends.

I crocheted another scarf today, but this one is definitely for me. I made a list of all the people I need to crochet Christmas presents for. The list contains 10 people. I've made one of the presents. Luckily, I know what I want to make for everyone, and I have most of the yarn I need.
